AI training

Microsoft Copilot training for UK teams, on your own files, with the permission checks done first.

Augustova runs Microsoft Copilot training for UK businesses inside your own Microsoft 365 tenancy: hands-on in Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel on your own files, after the SharePoint permission checks that stop Copilot surfacing what it should not. The AI Team Workshop is £895 for up to 12 people for half a day; tailored training is £1,200 a half day or £2,000 a day, ex VAT.

First, which Copilot does your team actually have?

"Copilot" is three different things, and the training is different for each. Copilot Chat comes with every Microsoft 365 business plan at no extra cost; it answers from the web and from what you paste in, but it does not read your mailbox or files. Microsoft 365 Copilot Business is a paid add-on that works inside Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint and draws on the mail, files and meetings each person can already open. The full Microsoft 365 Copilot licence does the same for larger firms on E3 and E5.

If only Copilot Chat is switched on, training is about prompting, checking output and what is safe to paste in. Once the paid licence is on, it is about the work inside each app, and about what Copilot can now find. Most firms we speak to are somewhere in between: a few licences bought, most staff on Copilot Chat, and no shared way of using either.

What the training covers, app by app

Every exercise uses the team’s own emails, documents and spreadsheets rather than sample files, because the point is for people to leave able to do Tuesday’s work faster, not to have seen a demo.

01Outlook: summarising long threads, drafting replies in your own tone from the thread and the files behind it, and catching up after time away.
02Teams: meeting recaps and action lists, which need transcription switched on; asking Copilot what was agreed in a meeting you missed.
03Word: first drafts from your own templates and past documents, rewriting to a house style, and summarising long reports, with the source files named in the prompt.
04Excel: asking questions of a table in plain English, building formulas and spotting trends, with the data set up as a table in a file stored in OneDrive or SharePoint.
05PowerPoint: a first deck from a Word document, then editing it, rather than starting from a blank slide.
06Copilot Chat: prompting that works (role, task, source, format), saving good prompts for the team, and checking every answer against the source before it goes anywhere.
07Safe use: what may and may not go into Copilot, how your Microsoft 365 data protection applies, and the one-page policy the team adopts at the end.

Before licences go out: the permission check

The paid Copilot can surface anything a person already has access to. That is the feature, and it is also the risk: in most tenancies a few SharePoint sites, Teams or shared folders are open to everyone in the company when they should not be, and nobody noticed because nobody went looking. Copilot goes looking. A salary spreadsheet shared to "everyone" two years ago becomes an answer to the question "what does Sam earn?"

So for a firm buying the paid licence, our Copilot training covers the checks that matter before licences go out: sites and folders shared with everyone, guest access, sensitivity labels on the documents that need them, and whether Teams meetings are transcribed. It is not a full security audit, and we say so; it is the short list that decides whether Copilot is safe to switch on for everyone.

Copilot training in the UK: who offers what, and at what price

Copilot has the widest choice of any AI training, because Microsoft partners and the big course providers all run it. The useful split is in-house training for a team, priced per session, against public courses priced per head. Once six or more people need the same thing, in-house is cheaper per head and uses your own files; for one or two people, a public course is usually the better buy.

Each provider’s own published price, read 19 October 2026, ex VAT where stated, as listed in our full comparison of UK AI training providers. For a team of twelve, an £895 workshop is about £75 a head; the same twelve on public courses would be £3,300 or more.

How a session runs

Before: a short skills assessment so the session starts where your team is, the list of tasks people most want help with, and, for the paid licence, the permission checks above. During: half a day or a full day, in person in London or remotely across the UK, with every person working on their own files from the first hour. After: the saved Copilot prompts, a one-page AI use policy, the written materials, and a short note of what the team can now do and what still needs support. We usually deliver within three weeks of booking.

When Copilot is not the right tool

Copilot is the natural choice for a firm that lives in Outlook, Teams and SharePoint, because it works where the work already is. It is a weaker fit for a firm whose documents sit in Google Workspace or a practice-management system, or one that mainly wants long-document review and drafting, where Claude or ChatGPT often do better at a lower price per seat. We train on all three, so we will tell you if the licence you are about to buy is the wrong one.

Common questions

How much does Microsoft Copilot training cost in the UK?

In-house training for a team runs from about £650 to £2,500 a session among UK providers that publish prices; ours is £895 for a half-day workshop for up to 12 people, or £1,200 a half day and £2,000 a day tailored, ex VAT. Public courses cost £275 to £1,425 a head, and Microsoft Learn is free.

Do staff need a Copilot licence before the training?

No. Copilot Chat comes with Microsoft 365 business plans, and training on it is worthwhile on its own. The in-app work in Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel needs the paid Microsoft 365 Copilot licence; if you are deciding whether to buy it, a session on Copilot Chat plus a handful of paid licences is a cheap way to find out.

Is there free Microsoft Copilot training?

Yes. Microsoft Learn has free self-paced paths, including Draft, analyze and present with Microsoft 365 Copilot, and the government’s AI Skills Boost has free introductory courses. They suit self-study; paid training is worth it when a team needs to use Copilot on its own work with shared rules.

What is the difference between Copilot Chat and Microsoft 365 Copilot?

Copilot Chat is included with business plans and answers from the web and what you paste in. Microsoft 365 Copilot is a paid add-on, £16.10 a user a month as Copilot Business for firms under 300 users, that works inside the Office apps and draws on the mail, files and meetings each person can already open.

Is Microsoft Copilot safe to use with client data?

Used with a work account, Copilot operates inside your Microsoft 365 tenancy under Microsoft’s business data protection terms. The bigger risk is internal: the paid Copilot can surface any file a person can open, so check what is shared with everyone before switching it on, and agree in writing what may go into it.

Can you train our team remotely?

Yes. We deliver in person in London and remotely anywhere in the UK, at the same prices. Remote sessions work well for Copilot because everyone is already in their own Microsoft 365 apps.

Do you train people to build Copilot agents?

Building agents in Copilot Studio is a different job from using Copilot day to day, and usually for one or two people rather than a whole team. If you need it, we scope it as a separate tailored session; our guide to Copilot Studio and Power Automate explains what it can and cannot do.
